Luke 3:14 Contentment
Some soilders were questioning him, saying, "And what about us, what shall we do"? And he said to them, "Do not take the money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages.
John came to know God' word while he was in the wilderness; everything became clear to him. So he lead crowds in all of the surrounding lands of the Jordan river to share the baptism of repentance. Tax collectors, men of riches, and soilders all gathered around to seek wisdom from John the Baptist. They all had questions for him in regards to what they should do, some even praised him like he was the king of all kings. So during this gathering John spoke on contentment and how those with riches should share their riches, and for the tax collectors not to take more than what they needed, to be content with what they have and who they are. I can relate to this simply because I wasn't satisfied, ever with anything in my life. I was always trying to be better than the next person and being envious of others and their lifestyle. My pride seeped in and took a strong hold on my life, goals, actions and especially my heart. Pride made me bitter, hatefull even spiteful, but God had intentions on setting me free. Free of this foot hold and crippling thoughts. Gods love is what I need to find contentment in, he is the Alpha and Omega and he is my redeemer, and he will set me free.
