The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do his commandments. His praise forever indures.
The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom, not scared fear, but faithful and loving fear. When becoming a new creation in christ we have to change the way we live so that we can be a walking example of his grace and mercies. With wisdom comes the knowlege of his commandments and we must live a life that shines his light to others. No longer walking in condemnation, anger, regret and depression; we learn to give these things to the lord willing. When we are obedient we have understanding, we cant walk away from Gods commandments and call on our lives. The pusuit of wisdom is not a popular ideal; yet without wisdom to run our lives, and lacking it we may shipwreck not only for our lives but also the lives of others. We must know Gods word, since only those who follow his precepts have a good understanding. True wisdom begins with acknowledging or reverently bowing before God, and it probresses by getting to know God well; which includes not only our coming to know him but also learning that his thoughts and ways are infinitely above and beyond ours. Thinking about God more improves the mind and expands it, so we need to build an intimate relationship with him and recognize that we cant do life with out him.
